Boys swimming sectional action kicks off Thursday with preliminaries at 20 sites.

Columbus East, Columbus North and Trinity Lutheran will compete in the North Sectional, with prelims beginning at 5:30 p.m. Thursday. Jennings County will be in the Floyd Central Sectional, with prelims starting at 6 p.m. Thursday.

Diving prelims at both sites begin at 9 a.m. Saturday. Swimming consolations and finals start at 1 p.m., with the top 16 divers making their final three dives at the normal spot within the swimming finals.

The sectional champion in each swimming event, along with anyone else making the state cut automatically advance to next weekend’s state finals at IUPUI’s Indiana University Natatorium. If that adds up to less than 32 around the state, the next-fastest swimmers are added until the field reaches 32 in an event.
