JENNINGS COUNTY — Jennings County Sheriff’s deputies arrested two people after receiving a report from the Aurora Police Department that a stolen 2000 blue Jeep Grand Cherokee could be in Jennings County.
At 12:30 a.m. Monday, Sgt. Cody Low found the vehicle near Country Manor and Walnut Grove Lane in Country Squire Lakes, said Chief Deputy Dave Turner.
As Low turned around to get behind the blue Jeep, it pulled into a driveway at a nearby residence. As Low pulled behind the vehicle to confirm that it was the stolen Jeep, a male subject exited the Jeep and walked up to the door of the residence where he started knocking on the front door, Turner said. After the Jeep was confirmed to be stolen, Low gave verbal commands to the male and the male refused to comply.
Low advised the male subject that he needed to comply or he was going to release his canine, Turner said. The male subject then complied and he was taken into custody without further incident, Turner said. They identified him as Jarede Bonds, age and address unavailable, who was also determined to be on parole through Indiana.
Deputies found methamphetamine and marijuana inside the vehicle, Turner said.
A female passenger Mikayla B. Cameron, 26, North Vernon, was also taken into custody, Turner said.
During the course of the investigation, it was learned that Cameron had left her three children with a family member who was unable to provide necessary care for the children. Turner said.
Bonds was arrested on preliminary charges of possession of methamphetamine, auto theft, and possession of methamphetamine, Turner said. He was being held in the Jennings County Jail on $6,255 bond.
Cameron was arrested on preliminary charges of auto theft, possession of marijuana and neglect of a dependent, Turner said. She was being held at the jail in lieu of $1,055 bond.
