NTN Driveshaft to stop production beginning Tuesday, end of second shift

NTN Driveshaft Inc. in Columbus is stopping production beginning Tuesday as all of their customers have also announced they are also stopping production.

Barry Parkhurst, company spokesman, confirmed workers will work a normal schedule on Monday and Tuesday and then stop production at the end of the second shift Tuesday. Employees are receiving information from department supervisors and are asked to chedk a web page for them on current status and return to work information.

NTN announced it would pay employees for time worked, but those who are not scheduled to work must use vacation days or occasional absence days (which contain no perfect attendance penalty).

Employees are also being allowed to borrow up to five vacation days from future accruals, the company said.

NTN will continue benefits coverage during this period and the employee contributions will be deducted from future paydays, the company said.

Employees have been told they may choose to file unemployment for the duration of the shutdown, the company said.
