COLUMBUS, Ind. — Columbus firefighters have ruled the cause of the fire at the Two Worlds Condominiums Wednesday as “undetermined.”

Firefighters collected evidence and interviewed building occupants but could not determine an exact cause.

An undetermined cause is used in fire investigations whenever the cause cannot be proven to an acceptable level of certainty. The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) standard for fire investigations ,NFPA 921, identifies four classifications of fire cause: Accidental, Incendiary, Natural, and Undetermined.

Wednesday’s fire heavily damaged four condominium units in Building 17 and displaced 11 occupants and three pets. No injuries were reported. The Salvation Army and American Red Cross of South Central Indiana are providing fire victim assistance to the families affected.
