Wilson wins state rematches; North takes third at Park Tudor invite

INDIANAPOLIS — Kathryn Wilson had a chance to play the two girls she beat in the semifinals and finals in last year’s Girls Tennis Singles State Finals, once again, the Columbus North senior came up victorious against both in Saturday’s Park Tudor Invitational.

After beating Jasper’s Harper Wiegand 6-0, 6-2 in the first round, Wilson topped South Bend St. Joseph’s Molly Bellia 6-2, 7-5 in a rematch of last year’s state final, which Wilson won in three sets. Then in Saturday’s final, Wilson topped Fishers’ Mischa Briggs 6-0, 6-2 in a rematch of last year’s state semifinal.

Also for the Bull Dogs, Aya Saad finished second at No. 2 singles, and Grace Conner and Lizzie Bodart took fourth at No. 2 doubles on Saturday. Annabelle Sun and Lucy Bergman were seventh at No. 1 doubles, and Lison Cloteaux finished eighth at No. 3 singles.

North finished third overall out of eight teams. No. 2-ranked St. Joseph won with 22 points to 18 for No. 3 Fishers, 13 for the No. 6 Bull Dogs and 12 each for No. 4 Jasper and No. 7 Park Tudor.
