Dennis Dale Huckelberry

DEPUTY

Mr. Dennis Dale Huckelberry, age 74, of Deputy, Indiana entered this life on December 8, 1949 in Seymour, Indiana. He was the loving son of the late Robert Leonard and Rosetta Reynolds Huckelberry. He was raised in North Vernon and graduated in 1968 from North Vernon High School. On November 23, 1969 Dennis was united in marriage to Rhoda Hensley in Lexington, Indiana. This happy union of 54 years enjoyed the love and fellowship of the Huckelberry and Hensley families. They settled in Deputy in 1970 and Dennis loved to farm, tinker on equipment and enjoyed helping others. He retired after 37 years of service with Cummins Engine Company in Columbus, Indiana. He held membership in the Hanover Masonic Lodge No. 652 F. &A.M., the Scottsburg Eastern Star Chapter No. 107 and a life member of the NRA. He was of the Baptist faith and enjoyed attending the Scaffold Lick Baptist Church in Blocher and after his loving wife went into the nursing home he faithfully attended the church service at the nursing home with her. Dennis was a great neighbor and friend and shared his many talents with them. He was a very giving and loving and devoted, husband, uncle, brother in law and friend as well. Dennis died suddenly on Monday, April 22, 2024, at 11:03 a.m. in his shop at his home near Deputy, Indiana.

Dennis will be missed by his loving wife of 54 years, Rhoda Hensley Huckelberry of Deputy, Indiana; his sister in laws, Mona Graves Bowerly Huckelberry of North Vernon, Indiana, Irene Holley and her husband, Gary of Columbus, Indiana, Thelma Fields of Columbus, Indiana; his nephews, Steven Huckelberry and his wife, Christina of North Vernon, Indiana, Gregory Huckelberry and his wife, Lauren of Greensburg, Indiana, Jason Daniel Bowerly and his wife, Samantha of North Vernon, Indiana, Brandon Wayne Bowerly and his wife, Calli; his nieces, Courtney Huckelberry Hatton and her husband, Robin of North Vernon, Indiana, Chasity Huckelberry Gerkin and her husband, Shawn of North Vernon, Indiana; his great nieces and great nephews, Peyton, Sidney, Laec, Silas, Garrett, Anna, Carter, and Ella; his brother in law, Doyle Glenn Hensley and his wife, Connie of Carrollton, Kentucky; his aunt, Viola Downs of Greentown, Indiana; several cousins and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Leonard Huckelberry, died January 2, 1997, his mother, Rosetta Reynolds Huckelberry, died November 3, 2015, his brother, Michael Lee Huckelberry, died March 12, 2012, his sister in law, Mary Jo Ringer Huckelberry, died July 9, 1996, his brother in law, Tony Fields, died September 30, 2017, his father in law and mother in law, Hubert Hensley, died November 15, 2015 and Nancy Stidham Hensley, died January 22, 2022.

Funeral services will be conducted Friday, April 26, 2024, at 11:00 a.m., at the Morgan &Nay Funeral Centre, 325 Demaree Drive in Madison, Indiana. Interment will follow in the Vernon Cemetery in Vernon, Indiana.

VISITATION

Friends may visit Thursday from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. and Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the Morgan &Nay Funeral Centre, 325 Demaree Drive in Madison, Indiana.

MASONIC SERVICE

The Hanover Masonic Lodge No. 652 F. &A.M. will conduct a Masonic service on Thursday at 7:00 p.m. at the Morgan &Nay Funeral Centre, 325 Demaree Drive in Madison, Indiana.
