Bartholomew Consolidated School Corp. is taking a trip to a galaxy far, far away for prom this year.

“Star Wars Prom: May The 4th Be With You” will be held at The Commons from 9 p.m. to midnight on Saturday.

Inspired by Star Wars Day on May 4, prom colors are gold, black, silver, cream, white and other neutrals. Prom is open to juniors and seniors.

“Last year, when I was kind of looking ahead to the date, I saw that and I didn’t really give it an option for anything else,” BCSC Prom Coordinator Tonya Cruser said of the intergalactic-theme.

Organizers are expecting about 1,200 attendees this year after what they believe to be a record number last year, partly due to growing class numbers.

Tickets are $22 each and available for purchase until Thursday at the North and East school bookstore and at the multipurpose room during both lunches for CSA New Tech students. Students must have a school ID to buy a ticket and get into prom.

In terms of guests, students can bring a junior or senior in good standing from another school, or an individual who is out of high school if they are under 21. Students outside of East/North/CSA have to register their guest when buying tickets.

All guests must be registered and approved by their respective dean’s office by 3 p.m. Thursday.

The DJ for this year will be Matty O. Entertainment. Gramz Bakery will be catering prom with desserts and beverages available.

Prom Parade

The BCSC Prom Parade will be from 7 to 9 p.m. in downtown Columbus, with parents and the community invited to line the streets to watch.

This year, parade participants will need a parade pass to be able to enter the parade route and will be allowed one trip through, Cruser said. Passes will be distributed when tickets are purchased.

Attendees can park at any of the legal parking on the street or the two parking garages, Cruser said.

After Prom

Turning Point’s After Prom, the second annual collaborative event from Turning Point Domestic Violence Services and the After Prom, will be from 11 p.m. to 3 a.m. at the Crump Theatre.

The event is a combination of Turning Point’s annual Dance Marathon— which raises awareness about dating violence and promotes healthy relationships— and an after prom previously organized by the Columbus Parks and Recreation Department for BCSC students.

Junior and seniors may attend the free event, but must present a ticket and student ID for entry. There is no re-entry allowed, according to organizers.

The night will have live music from Electric Symphony and a local jazz band, a video game tournament, a breakout room, game room, scavenger hunt, DJ, yard games and ticketed prizes for gas cards, professional sports tickets and memorabilia, electronics, dorm supplies and scholarships for seniors.
