Thomas gets big win at Eldora Speedway

Ryan Thomas of Brownstown picked up the $10,000 first-place prize on April 27 at Tony Stewart’s Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio.

Thomas won the postponed modified feature from the Dirt Track World Championship weekend in October. It was Thomas’ first-ever win at Eldora. Jeremy Creech of Richmond won the Eldora stock car feature.

Eldora is back in action tonight with the World of Outlaws Sprint Cars and the USAC National Sprint Cars.

Swanson wins at Lawrenceburg

Jake Swanson of Anaheim, California, won the sprint car feature on April 27 at Lawrenceburg Speedway. Nick Bilbee was second, followed by Rylan Gray, J.J. Hughes and Garrett Abrams. Matt Hamilton of Aurora won the modified feature over Nicholas Byrd, Anthony Chaney, Ricky Bolton and Ryan Clark. John Heaston of Glenwood won the pure stock feature race over Joel Andrews, Danny Eichler, Rick Zimmerman and Chad Ackman. Cordell Moore of Holton won the hornet division feature over Ryan Paciocco, Alex West, Camden Ramirez and Brody Hembree.

Trammell wins at Paragon

Cody Trammell of Bloomington won the Midwest Thunder sprint car feature on April 27 at Paragon Speedway. Carson Garrett was second, followed by Jadon Rogers, C.J. Leary and Hunter Maddox. Josh Litton of Paragon won the super stock main event over Cale Kern, Douglas McCullough, Hayden Groomer and Tom Plotz. Chris Hillman Jr. of Mooresville won the hornet feature race over Alex West, Ty Bland, Jeremy Wilson and Conner Garrison. Eli Wilhelmus of Newburgh won the MMMS min-sprint feature over Bryan Brewer, Brian Strane Jr., Jaylon Mills and Brandon Justus.

Burns wins at Bloomington

Harley Burns of Brazil won the sprint car feature on April 26 at Bloomington Speedway. Brandon Spencer was second, followed by Rylan Gray, Hunter Maddox and Brayden Fox. Josh Harris of Utica, Kentucky, won the special open wheel modified feature over Cole Falloway, Trent Young, Cole Parker and Tyler Loughmiller. Greg Amick of Spraytown won the super stock feature over Tucker Chastain, Zach Sasser, Isaiah Sasser and Justin Massie.

Several winners in Brownstown

The racing events at the Brownstown Speedway on April 27 were the sixth racing event to take place for 2024, and it was only the last weekend of April. “Slicker Graphics” Super Late Models were on hand for $2,000-to-win.

Chad Stapleton of Edinburgh jumped to the early lead in “Slicker Graphics” Super Late Models and had to hold off a charging (12th-place starting) Devin Gilpin to get the win. Stapleton’s first win of the year makes him the third different super late model winner out of three races in 2024.

Devin Gilpin, David Webb, Jordan Wever and Matt Boknecht completed the top five. In positions 6-through-10 were Cody Mahoney, Shelby Miles, Jared Bailey, Tyler Collins and Robert Rainey.

Tucker Chastain of Bedford became the fifth different winner for Pewter Hall Super Stocks out of five races this year. Zach Sasser and Blake Hull battled for the early lead, and by the midway point of the race, Trey Chastain took over the lead. Tucker Chastain moved to second, and with two to go, made the pass on his brother for the win. Trey Chastain ran second, followed by Isaiah Sasser, Zach Sasser and Greg Amick.

In Crossroads Truck Equipment Pure Stock action, Josh Turner of Edinburgh made it win No. 3 out of the past four events. With side-by-side racing throughout the field, Turner caught leader Keaton Streeval with four laps to go and made the pass for the win. Streeval, Brent McMillan, A.J. Wilson and Ross Smith followed Turner at the checkers.

Blake Daniels led the Crown Vic feature until six laps to go, when he had mechanical issues. Eric Lewis of Corydon, who was chasing down Daniels, took over the lead and went on to pick up his first win of the year. Lewis is the fourth different Crown Vic winner out of four races. Todd Cain, Matt Cranmer, Ryan Woods and Stacie Fitzgerald rounded out the top five.

Michael Brewer of North Vernon made it win No. 3 for the year in the hornet division. Brewer led flag-to-flag in getting the win with great racing happening from second on back. Trailing Brewer at the checkers were Jeremy Shemwell, Scott Smith, Brian Pollitt and James Simmons.
