Ivy Tech to graduate 1,296 students in Friday ceremonies

COLUMBUS, Ind. — Ivy Tech Community College will celebrate the graduation of 1,296 students from its Columbus Service Area at its 54th commencement ceremony Friday at the Columbus North High School Gymnasium. The ceremony will begin at 6 p.m. 

More than 1,900 credentials will be awarded this year from the Columbus Service Area, including 492 associate degrees, 748 technical certificates, and 674 certificates. The top awarded degree programs include business administration, healthcare specialist, cybersecurity, industrial technology, and the Indiana College Core, which is a block of 30 credit hours of general education, college-level coursework that is guaranteed to transfer between all Indiana public colleges and universities. 

Ivy Tech Columbus Chancellor Steven Combs will officiate commencement and will be joined by Dr. Rebecca Rahschulte, Vice President for Academic Affairs & Associate Provost and other college officials to honor the graduates. Rahschulte will confer the degrees and certificates. 

Graduating student Tatem Hodge of Shelbyville will give the student address. Hodge is earning an associate degree in agriculture and has been recognized as the outstanding graduate of the Agriculture Program.  

An honorary associate of science degree will be presented to Jim Roberts, superintendent of Bartholomew Consolidated School Corp. and a member of the Ivy Tech Columbus Campus Board of Trustees.
