IDEM sets air quality action day

The Indiana Department of Environmental Management has forecast an Air Quality Action Day for Thursday in four Indiana regions including Bartholomew County.

Ozone levels are expected to be in the Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups range (Orange) in central and east central Indiana, including the cities of Columbus, Bloomington, Brookville, Frankfort, Indianapolis, Greensburg, Kokomo, Lebanon, Martinsville, Muncie, Richmond and all other cities within the area.

Continuing high temperatures that are expected to reach the lower 90s, along with modest humidity, may lead to ozone levels that reach the Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups (USG) in those regions. IDEM forecasted Air Quality Action Days indicate anticipated higher levels of ground-level ozone and fine particulate matter only. Other factors may affect overall air quality.
