Looking Back – July 12

2014

Eighty-four children between the ages of 1 and 12, each with a frog companion, filled the Bartholomew County 4-H Farm Bureau Building for the fair’s frog jumping contest. The winners of the contest were Abigail Megel and Hoppy, Joshua Conrad and Jerry, and Alexa Weisner and Cricket.

1999

Southside Elementary School teacher Mark Yeaton’s band, Kickin’ Some Knowledge, performed at the David W. Boll Theatre at the Bartholomew County 4-H Fairgrounds. The band, comprised of other members Tom Lego, Jordan Roberts and Mark Neafus, played music with an educational message.

1974

Columbus East High School marching band performed in the American Legion Parade Contest in Fort Wayne at the Legion’s state convention. The band represented the Ninth Congressional District in the contest.
