The Indiana Department of Transportation’s inspection of State Road 46’s cable stay bridge over the East Fork White River will require lane closings next week in Columbus.
Bridge inspectors will begin working Oct. 20 in the right lane and the right turn lane of the eastbound State Road 46 bridge. All traffic will be diverted to the center and left lanes.
On Oct. 21, inspections are scheduled from the center and left through lanes. Motorists will be routed across the bridge through the right lane and right turn lane.
Each day’s inspections will be between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m.
The Indiana Department of Transportation will set orange construction barrels and arrow boards to direct traffic. Inclement weather could push back the daily inspections, INDOT officials said.
