Dr. David J. Lee, bariatric medical director at Southern Indiana Surgery, will hold a free information session on obesity and bariatric surgery at 5:30 p.m. Nov. 8 at Southern Indiana Surgery, 2325 18th St., Suite 220, Columbus.
The session will include information on the causes of obesity, misconceptions about the surgery, lifestyle implications, insurance and different surgery options available. To qualify for bariatric surgery, patients must have either a Body Mass Index (BMI) of 35 or higher with significant weight-related conditions or have a BMI higher than 40 without weight-related conditions.
