Sam Meek, Hauser junior baseball player

Meek threw a five-inning no-hitter with nine strikeouts and went 2 for 3 with two RBIs in a 12-0 win at Morristown. A day earlier, he went 2 for 3 in a 15-3 win against Morristown.

His performance last week: “I was able to control my pitches and get everything in the right location, and my defense was able to back me up.”

Do you do anything special to prepare? “I just say a prayer during the national anthem.”

Favorite drink: “Gatorade”

Favorite food: “Steak”

Favorite book: “The Harry Potter series”

Favorite class: “History”

Role model: “My mom (Jan Meek)”

Best advice: “Work hard, even when nobody is watching”

Athletics goal: “I want to win sectional and just keep on going.”

If you could travel anywhere: “Probably Victory Field (in Indianapolis) to be able to play in the state finals.”

Maddi Clark, Edinburgh junior softball player

Clark threw a five-inning perfect game, striking out 14 of the 15 batters she faced, and went 2 for 4 with three RBIs in a 13-0 win at Waldron.

Her performance last week: “It was definitely my best in awhile. I stayed focused, and I didn’t stray away from the goal.”

Do you do anything special to prepare? “I just kind of warm up and try to get focused.”

Favorite drink: “Mountain Dew or Dr. Pepper”

Favorite food: “Pizza or tacos”

Favorite book: “Divergent series”

Favorite class: “Math”

Role model: “My dad (Edinburgh coach Stephen Clark)”

Best advice: “Don’t get hurt. Don’t do anything stupid.”
