A Columbus dance studio will conduct a fundraiser to support one of its dancers whose mother from complications of a bone marrow transplant.
Sonya’s Dance Zone will host the event from noon to 3 p.m. Sept. 16 at the studio, 3140 N. National Road. It will feature a silent auction, food, bounce houses and face painting.
Organizer Sonya Denney, owner of Sonya’s Dance Zone, said she hopes the event is able to raise at least $4,000.
Proceeds will allow Rachel Rudzinski, 17, to continue dancing at the studio and participate in competitions, Denney said.
Her mother, Mary Jean Rudzinski of Columbus, died Aug. 14 at age 48. Among her school-related activities, Rudzinski served as the president of the Mom’s Club, an officer of the PTO of L. Frances Smith Elementary and as a cheerleading coach.
