High school marching bands at Columbus North and Columbus East still are in competition mode as both schools get ready to perform at their next events.
The Sound of North is headed to the Indiana State School Music Association semistate competition after placing fourth out of 13 other bands Saturday at a regional event at Center Grove High School. The 160-member band will compete at 5:32 p.m. Oct. 28 at Ben Davis High School in Indianapolis, in hopes of advancing to the Nov. 4 Indiana State School Music Association State Finals at Lucas Oil Stadium.
But first, the North band will compete in The Bands of America super regional competition in Indianapolis at Lucas Oil Stadium at 3:45 p.m. Friday., hoping to advance to Saturday’s finals. The North band will conclude its performance season during Music for All’s Bands of America Grand National Championships Nov. 8 to 11.
Meanwhile, the Columbus East Olympian Spirit marching band is gearing up for the Indiana State School Music Association Scholastic Class finals this Saturday at Lawrence Central High School in Indianapolis, where it is scheduled to perform at 8:32 p.m. The 74-member band qualified for the finals after it finished sixth during a preliminary competition Oct. 7 at Whiteland High School.
