HOPE — Senior Aunaka Wasil from Hauser Jr./Sr. High School has been named as a 2021 Regional Academic All-Star.
The Indiana Association of School Principals recently announced that 40 seniors from throughout the state have been named as 2021 Indiana Academic All-Stars, and 50 other students (including Aunaka) were named as regional honorees.
According to a release from the IASP, the students were chosen out of a field of 270 “outstanding” nominees from both private and public accredited schools in Indiana.
“Academic All-Star distinction recognizes seniors who excel in the classroom first and foremost, but who also are actively involved in their schools and communities, and take on leadership roles in those activities,” the release stated.
Each public and private high school accredited by the Indiana Department of Education may nominate one senior for consideration as an Indiana Academic All-Star. From those nominations, a selection committee chooses the regional winners (who represent five regions in Indiana) and the 40 Indiana Academic All-Stars.
The Academic All-Stars program is produced by the IASP, with support provided by DePauw University, Indiana University Bloomington and Purdue University, along with corporate partner Herff Jones.
