Laurel Ray Wilson

Laurel Ray Wilson, 95, of Shelbyville, passed away Tuesday, June 8, 2021 at his residence.

Born May 16, 1926 at Camp Atterbury, he was the son of Sylvester Wilson and Jesse (Coombs) Wilson. He married Reba (Stroup) Wilson on September 23, 1945, and she preceded him on June 26, 2009.

Survivors include 3 daughters- Cheryl Stillabower, Sue Kirschbaum (husband Jim), Donna Copple (husband Don), all of Shelbyville; a brother Russell Wilson of Columbus; 8 grandchildren- Lori Shaw, Scott Stillabower, Jennifer Wilson, Kevin Kirschbaum, Michelle Haehl, Christopher Copple, Blake Copple, and Rachael Procell; and 15 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his spouse, one sister and 2 brothers.

Mr. Wilson was a resident of this area his entire lifetime, and was a lifelong self employed farmer. He graduated from Mt. Auburn High School, was a member of Little Blue River Baptist Church, Blue River Lion’s Club, Eagle’s Lodge, and was a founding member of Blue River Antique Tractor Association. He was a US Army veteran.

Ray enjoyed playing cards, restoring old antique tractors and engines, fishing, gardening, riding his golf cart, and spending time with his family and grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 12:00 noon on Friday, June11, 2021 at Glenn E. George & Son Funeral Home, 437 Amos Road, with Rev. Robert Campbell officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday morning from 10:00 am until the time of the service. Military graveside service will be conducted by a local veterans organization.
