Steve A. Brummett

Steve A. Brummett, 68, of Columbus, passed away Wednesday June 16, 2021 at Columbus Regional Hospital. He was born May 2, 1953 in Columbus to the late Charles and Nell (Vance) Brummett and has been a lifelong Columbus resident.

Steve was currently employed as a diagnostic development engineer with Cummins, Inc with 33 years of service in corporate security, warranty and technical support. He was very much a people person.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday June 24, 2021 at the Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home with the Rev. Adam Carrigan officiating. Following the service, he will be laid to rest in Bethel Baptist Cemetery. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. A celebration of Steve’s life will be scheduled later at a place and date to be determined for his many friends and coworkers to remember Steve. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Alzheimer’s Association.

Steve is survived by his wife, Megan (DeBaun) Brummett whom he married April 24, 1993; sons, Ross (Rebecca) Brummett and Michael (Melissa) Whitcomb, all of Columbus; daughter, Angel (Jay) Brummett-Colbert of Columbus; grandchildren, Brianne, Claire and Seth and his sister, Cheryl (Bruce) Armstrong of Columbus. Steve was preceded in death by his parents, a half brother, Dan Shriner and a half sister, Beverly Farley.
