ORMOND BEACH, FLA.
Charles W. Shireman, 78, of Ormond Beach, FL passed away on June 14, 2021. He was born June 18, 1942 at St. Edwards Hospital in New Albany, IN. He was the son of Wayne and Marguerite Arnholt Shireman.
He lived in Lanesville, IN in his early years until the family moved to Columbus when his father obtained a job with Cummins Engine Co. in the early 1950s. Charlie attended grade school at McKinley and finished at St. Peter’s Lutheran. He graduated from Columbus High School in 1960 and went to work at Cummins in 1962 spending 32 years, retiring in 1994.
Charlies served six years with the National Guards. He also was a member of the American Legion, Moose Family Center and had lifetime membership with the FOE. He loved the game of golf and loved his golf Buddies too many to mention. He also loved to dance. He would sometimes be the first on the floor to “Jitterbug.”
Survived by his children: Pastor Nan Dehnke of Michigan, Diana (Jim) Elkins and Debbie Meek of Columbus, Bobby (Susie) Maggard of Nashville; Life Companion, Terri Shireman of Florida and Sister, Margery (Joe) Murray of Columbus.
Charlie moved to Florida in September of 2020. He will be greatly missed. He was preceded in death by his parents.
There will be no services. Memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society or charity of your choice.
