Narcotics investigation leads to arrest

Columbus police officers arrested a local man on several felony charges in conjunction with a narcotics investigation.

CPD officers were sent at 2:40 p.m. Friday to a reported overdose in the 800 block of McClure Road. A short time later, officers located Ames riding a bicycle near Seventh and Cherry streets. The officers attempted to stop Ames, however, he began fleeing on his bicycle, Harris said. While attempting to evade officers, Ames reportedly began discarding items he had in his clothing.

Moments later, Ames lost control of his bicycle and crashed. He was arrested a short time later, Harris said.
