Columbus East will be a part of the 2022 Indianapolis Host Committee’s Inaugural Tailgate Tour.
In conjunction with the 2022 College Football Playoff National Championship coming to Indianapolis in January, the host committee is bringing the Indiana Tailgate Tour to 18 high school football games across the state over the nine-week regular season. At each of the selected games, fans can participate in prize giveaways, corn hole, a photo booth, and football-skill activities with USA Football prior to kickoff.
The Olympians will be involved Oct. 1 for its Week 7 game at Bishop Chatard.
At halftime, the Indianapolis Host Committee will award a $1,000 grant to the participating schools to aid in teacher and classroom development. An additional $500 will be donated to each school’s athletics department.

Columbus North fans traveling to Gibson Southern for Friday’s football season opener will be able to purchase tickets at the gate beginning at 6 p.m. EST (5 p.m. CST). The game will start at 7:30 p.m. EST (6:30 p.m. CST).
Columbus East fans hoping to attend road football, volleyball and boys soccer matches this weekend will have to click on a link to purchase tickets in advance for those events. They are as follows:

East athletics director Pete Huse said that as of now, there will be no attendance restrictions for Wednesday’s East-North girls soccer game, the Aug. 26 East-North boys soccer game or the Aug. 27 North at East football game.
Volleyball rescheduled
The South Decatur at Edinburgh volleyball game that was scheduled for tonight has been rescheduled for Sept. 15.
South Decatur is in quarantine this week and next week because of contact tracing and will return to action Aug. 30 against Crothersville.
