Julia E. Hamilton, 84 of Franklin, Indiana, formerly of Edinburgh, Indiana, passed away September 26, 2021 at Compass Park in Franklin. She was born March 12, 1937 in Edinburgh. She was the daughter of Charles Clifford Hamilton and Orintha (Pruitt) Hamilton.
She is survived by her 28 nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Meredith Hamilton, LeRoy Hamilton, Paul Hamilton, Wayne Hamilton, Francis Hamilton, and David Hamilton, sister, Marcia (Hamilton) Price, and a niece and nephew.
Julia graduated from Edinburgh High School in 1955. In 1963 she received a Bachelor’s degree in Education and her Master’s degree in 1971. She was a high school English teacher, worked at RCA, IU Press in Bloomington, Indiana, a Librarian in Edinburgh, and worked at the VA Hospital helping veterans being fitted for prosthetics. She was a life member of the Edinburgh United Methodist Church. She enjoyed gardening, watching animals, and Jeopardy. Julia was an avid reader and never met a stranger.
A memorial service will be conducted by Reverend Jason Hyer at 11:00 AM on Saturday, October 16, 2021 at Edinburgh United Methodist Church in Edinburgh, Indiana. Calling will be from 10:00 AM until time of service at the church. Burial will be at Rest Haven Cemetery in Edinburgh.
