A Columbus woman was arrested on multiple drug charges after officers located more than 100 THC-laced brownies as well as additional marijuana inside her home on Wednesday afternoon.
Shortly before 3 p.m., CPD officers were conducting a police visibility patrol in the 1300 block of Pearl Street due to recent complaints of criminal activity in the area, said Lt. Matt Harris, Columbus Police Department spokesman.
While on Pearl Street, officers noted that a nearby residence had the front door open and could smell the odor of marijuana coming from inside the home. A short time later, a woman later identified as Courtney M. James, 37, of 1303 Pearl St., exited the home, slammed the front door behind her and immediately became belligerent with officers, Harris said.
Officers later obtained a search warrant for the home and located over 100 THC laced brownies in plastic bags, marijuana cigarettes and loose marijuana as well as syringes inside the residence, Harris said.
James was placed under arrest and transported to the Bartholomew County Jail on the following preliminary charges:
Dealing marijuana
Possession of marijuana
Possession of drug paraphernalia
Resisting law enforcement
James’ bond was set at $16,500 and she has since bonded out from jail, jail officials said.
CPD uniform officers were assisted by detectives from the Joint Narcotics Enforcement Team as well as CPD’s Intelligence Led Policing Unit, Harris said.
