Skylar Aiden Hinrichs

FORT WALTON BEACH, Fla.

Word has been received by family that Skylar Aiden Hinrichs was killed in an unfortunate accident while jogging on Okaloosa Island near Fort Walton, Florida on December 3, 2021. He had moved to Florida after graduating from Saline high school in Saline, Michigan in the spring of 2020.

Skylar was born 10 January 2002 in Michigan, the son of J. D. Cox and Renee Hinrichs. He attended Keicher elementary school in Michigan Center, Michigan in grades 3-6 and attended high school in Saline, Michigan. He especially loved music and sang in several musical programs, even singing a solo. He also played the piano and other musical instruments and was very adept at doing so. He loved eating ice cream. He was unusually adept at computers and their workings and helped numerous family members with their electronic devices. Skylar also loved the ocean and jogging was his outlet to relieve stress.

Skylar is survived by his parents, J. D. Cox and Renee Robles; siblings Dominique Nicole Cox, Brad Brown, Damian Cox and Izie Robles; grandmothers, Shirley Baugh Hooten and Karel Rodgers; and Aunts and Uncles, Joyce Page, Ray Cox, Cindy Thompson and Nathan Hinrichs. He is also survived by Mark and Tammy Ann Brown of Michigan Center, Michigan who were like his grandparents, and Jessica Brown-Hatfield and her sons CJ and Bronson and several cousins and extended family members.

A celebration of life will be held for Skylar in Columbus, Indiana on December 30 from 6-8 p.m. in the Cultural Hall of the church of Jesus Christ of Later-day Saints, 4850 West Goeller Road, Columbus, Indiana. All friends and relatives are invited and casual dress is encouraged.
