Bull Dog selected MileSplit Indiana Male Runner of Year

Reese Kilbarger-Stumpff, who won the individual title at the Boys Cross Country State Finals, earned a big award earlier this week.

The Columbus North senior has been named MileSplit Indiana Male Runner of the Year. Bishop Chatard junior Lily Cridge is the Female Runner of the Year.

In addition to his state championship, Kilbarger-Stumpff won Conference Indiana, regional and semistate titles. He led the Bull Dogs to team championships in each of those races and a third-place finish at state.

Kilbarger-Stumpff, who also won the state’s Mental Attitude Award for boys cross-country, has committed to run cross-country and track at Colorado.

North bowlers named All-SEIC

Six members of the Columbus North bowling team have been selected to the All-Southeastern Indiana Conference squad.

Skylar Harrison (178 average, 425 high series, 236 high game); Alexis Jones (165, 368, 212); Ragan Mathis (178, 418, 214); Landon Million (179, 420, 235); Ethan Staples (175, 386, 216) and Skye Thomas (161, 384, 204) are on the 10-bowler first team.

The Bull Dogs, who shared the SEIC title with Seymour and South Ripley, will host the sectional Saturday at Columbus Bowling Center. The top two boys teams, top girls team, six boys individuals and six girls individuals will advance to regional.

Palmeter to play football at Marian

Edinburgh two-sport standout Riley Palmeter has committed to continue his football career at Marian.

Palmeter, a senior quarterback, completed 154-of-285 passes for 2,257 yards and 27 touchdowns for the 5-5 Lancers this fall. He also is a starter on the Edinburgh basketball team that is 10-0 and ranked No. 2 in the state in Class A.

Hauser-GCA game will be varsity-only

Hauser’s girls basketball game against Greenwood Christian Academy tonight will be a varsity-only contest with a 6:30 p.m. start.

Also, the Jennings County at Whiteland girls basketball game that was scheduled for Tuesday has been moved to Monday. The JV will start at 6 p.m., with the varsity to follow at around 7:30 p.m.
