BOYS BASKETBALL

Crusaders rally for win

Trailing 20-17 at halftime, Columbus Christian coach Kevin Roth decided to turn up the pressure on Crothersville.

The Crusaders began forcing turnovers and improved their shooting from 22 percent in the first half to 63 percent in the second half. As a result, they rallied for a 61-49 victory.

“We put a little pressure on them, and our shooting percentage came up quite a bit,” Columbus Christian coach Kevin Roth said.

Peyton Rehlander led the Crusaders (15-10) with 20 points. Noah Edwards scored 17, Gabe Ridder had 12 and Cam Pritchard added nine.

East falls to Cougars

Bloomington North jumped out to a 42-26 halftime lead and went on to hand Columbus East a 69-46 defeat.

Julius Dailey led the Olympians (2-12) with 17 points. Ben Sylva scored nine, and Zane Moravec added eight.

Jets fall to Bulldogs

HOPE — Hauser fell behind 25-8 after one quarter and couldn’t catch up in a 57-37 loss to Batesville.

Bryce Bates led the Jets (7-9) with 14 points and eight rebounds. Koby Johnson added 10 points.

Spartans stop Panthers

CONNERSVILLE — Class 3A No. 10 Connersville jumped out to a 32-19 halftime lead and went on to post a 66-47 win against Jennings County.

Owen Law led the Panthers (10-5) with 15 points. Jacob Vogel added 14.

Lancers down Hornets

EDINBURGH — Travis Jones had a career-high 23 points and 10 rebounds to lead Class A No. 3 Edinburgh to a 71-57 win against Henryville.

Caleb Dewey scored 21 points for the Lancers (14-1). Jarrett Turner added 12.

Cougars topple Tigers

GREENSBURG — Hunter Johnson scored 37 points to lead South Decatur to a 72-64 win against Triton Central in a rematch of last year’s sectional final.

Jacob Scruggs had 15 points for the Cougars (8-8), who led 45-34 at halftime. Evan Wullenweber added 10.

Pirates top Eagles

NASHVILLE — Greensburg jumped out to a 37-11 halftime lead and went on to post a 66-32 win at Brown County.

Carter Kelly led the Eagles (2-11) with 13 points. Josh Miller added eight.

East finishes fourth

BLOOMINGTON — Columbus East put up its second-best score of the season, a 98.625, to finish fourth in the Bloomington South Invitational. Co-No. 6 Bloomington North won with a school-record 109.125.

Reagan Mount led the Olympians with a fifth-place finish in the all-around competition with a 33.10. She placed sixth on the bars (8.1) and ninth on the beam (8.475).

Cami Warren finished seventh in the all-around with a 32.65. She was seventh on both the bars (7.8) and floor (9.05).

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Crusaders take third

Columbus Christian went 2-1 to finish third in the Southern Roads Conference Tournament.

The Crusaders opened with a 43-10 win against Seven Oaks. Sarah Lorimor scored 23 points.

Columbus Christian fell to Bloomington Lighthouse 45-22 in the semifinals. Lorimor finished with nine points.

The Crusaders (11-7) bounced back with a 65-61 win against Dugger Union in the third-place game. Lorimor scored 25 points, while Eva Blair had 20, and Paige Harden added 10.

Cougars close with win

GREENSBURG — South Decatur broke open a 20-20 game at halftime to post a 46-33 Mid-Hoosier Conference win against Edinburgh in the regular-season finale for both teams.

Loryn Pate led the Cougars (4-16, 1-5) with 20 points. Kiley Best added 11.

Callie Hancock and Alyssa Funkhouser each scored nine points to lead the Lancers (8-10, 1-4).
