Duncan begins with 70 in Phoenix Open

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. — Tyler Duncan fired a 1-under-par 70 in Thursday’s opening round and is tied for 44th place in the WM Phoenix Open.

Duncan, a 2008 Columbus North graduate, birdied three of the final five holes. He shot 1-over 36 on the front and 2-under 34 on the back at TPC Scottsdale.

Sahith Theegala was leading the tournament at 7-under through 16 holes when play was suspended because of darkness. K.H. Lee finished at 6-under 65. Four others, including Brooks Koepka, are at 5-under.
