Stahl makes ICGSA All-State

Columbus East junior Saige Stahl has been named to the Indiana Coaches of Girls Sports Association All-State girls basketball team.

Stahl is one of 25 players on the first team. She led the Olympians with 17.9 points, 9.5 rebounds and 4.5 steals and added 1.9 assists per game this season for a squad that won the Hoosier Hills Conference title.

Jennings County sophomore Juliann Woodard made the third team. Woodard led the Panthers with 16.0 points, 12.0 rebounds, 3.1 assists, 2.8 steals and 2.0 blocks per game.

Johnson selected Academic All-State

South Decatur senior Hunter Johnson, who leads the state in scoring, has been named to the Indiana Basketball Coaches Association boys Academic All-State team.

Columbus East’s J.T. Kuhlman, Anthony Lloyd and Will Rieckers; Columbus North’s Carson Dibble and Sam King; Hauser’s Bryce Bates and Eli Miller; Jennings County’s Jacob Vogel; Edinburgh’s Nick Detling; Brown County’s Josh Miller and South Decatur’s Evan Wullenweber are boys honorable mention selections.

Girls honorable mention selections included East’s Kaitlyn Carothers, Harley Gant, Koryn Greiwe and Albany Speer; North’s Reagan Ables, Andrea Justis and Lucy Norman; Hauser’s Gabby Johns; Jennings’ Lily Ernstes, Morgan Lane and Kali Thompson and Edinburgh’s Alyssa Funkhouser.

Greiwe commits to Indiana Wesleyan

Columbus East senior and all-time leading scorer Koryn Greiwe has committed to continue her basketball career at Indiana Wesleyan.

Greiwe averaged 16.7 points, 3.0 rebounds and 3.5 steals and led the Olympians with 3.3 assists per game this season for a team that won the HHC title. She finished with 1,656 career points.

Essick to play football at Anderson

Columbus North senior linebacker Connor Essick has decided to continue his football career at Anderson University.

Essick recorded 85 tackles, including 10 for losses, last fall in helping the Bull Dogs to the Conference Indiana title.

Bull Dogs named All-Conference

Three members of the Conference Indiana champion Columbus North girls basketball team have been selected to this year’s All-Conference squad, and North coach Brett White is the Conference Indiana Girls Basketball Coach of the Year..

Seniors Kylah Lawson and Andrea Justis and junior Lauren Barker are on the girls first team. Junior Emma Long made honorable mention.

Bull Dog senior Sam King and junior Cooper Horn made the All-Conference boys basketball first team. Senior Carson Dibble and junior Ty Ferguson are honorable mention selections.

Lawson named North girls MVP

Senior Kylah Lawson has been selected MVP of the Columbus North girls basketball team.

Senior Andrea Justis won the Bull Dog Award, junior Kayla Jones was named Most Improved, senior Lucy Norman won the Spirit Award and senior Reagan Ables won the Karen McCaa Resilience Award and junior Lauren Barker won the Free-Throw Percentage Award. Sophomore Elise Preston won the JV Martha Kalb Award.

Arnholt nets sectional coach of year honor

Columbus East’s Jill Arnholt has been named the coach of the year for the Columbus North girls swimming sectional.

Arnholt guided the Olympians to a third-place finish in the sectional with 277.5 points.

East to host girls golf callout meeting

Columbus East will hold a girls golf callout meeting at 6 p.m. March 22 in the West Room of the Otter Creek clubhouse.

The meeting is for all current and prospective players and their families.

Baseball sectional now at Bloomington South

The IHSAA made a couple of tweaks this week to the lists of sectional and regional hosts it announced last week.

The baseball sectional that includes Columbus East and Columbus North has been moved from Bloomington North to Bloomington South. The softball sectional still will be at Bloomington North.

The boys track regional has been moved from Warren Central to Greenfield-Central. Columbus North still will host the boys track sectional, and the girls track sectional and regional both will be at Franklin.
