2:15 P.M UPDATE

Columbus police said the State Road 46 overpass remains partially blocked as work continues to remove a large semi tractor trailer that was carrying skids of bourbon that overturned Wednesday morning.

Only one lane westbound is open and motorists are advised to avoid the area if possible as lengthy delays in traffic moving through the area continue.

Additional problems have occurred when several property damage accidents happened with motorists attempting to take photos or look at the accident scene while still driving in the eastbound lanes of the overpass, police said.

Work is continuing to off-load the alcohol from the truck before 31 Wrecker removes the truck from the scene, police said.
