A Bartholomew County Sheriff’s deputy arrested two individuals wanted on warrants for drug-related offenses during a traffic stop at 12:52 a.m. Friday.
Deputy Dylan Prather was traveling north on U.S. 31 at West County Road 500N when he observed a black SUV traveling in front of him swerving across lanes of travel and on to the shoulder.
Prather conducted a traffic stop and both the driver and the passenger provided false names, deputies said. The driver was later identified as William E. Hayes, 27, 5314 N. College Ave., Indianapolis, and the passenger was identified as Daron S. Croom, 31, 2240 Carrollton Ave., Indianapolis. Hayes and Croom each had outstanding arrest warrants for dealing methamphetamine and cocaine, deputies said.
BCSO K9 Frizko was deployed and, during the course of the investigation, deputies located fentanyl and more than $17,000 cash.
Hayes and Croom were remanded to the Bartholomew County Jail on preliminary charges including:
Hayes: False informing, possession of a controlled substance, operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated, held with no bond.
Croom: False informing, possession of a controlled substance, arrest warrant, held with no bond.
