Marathon poster, T-shirt winners selected

The Mill Race Marathon has announced the winners in its contest to create the poster for this year’s race and the artistic design for the Kids Fun Run T-shirts.

Hazel Kelley, who just completed fourth grade at CSA Lincoln, is a back-to-back winner, the first ever in marathon history as her artwork was also selected in 2021.

Her winning artwork will be placed on approximately 1,000 shirts of the Kids Fun Run participants, who will race on Sept. 23 in Mill Race Park as part of the marathon festivities. The event is planned for Sept 23 in Mill Race Park.

The designer of the 2022 Mill Race Marathon poster is Zane Moravec, a Columbus East High School student. His design focuses on the 10th year anniversary of the marathon.

Moravec will receive a $500 Mill Race Marathon Scholarship check and will have his artwork serve as the official race poster for 2022.

Registered participants will have their names printed on the official poster and it will be for sale at the Mill Race Marathon Expo on Sept 23.

The judging team, made up of representatives from CRH-Healthy Communities, German American Bank, Cummins Inc., Dorel Juvenile, Bartholomew Consolidated School Corp. and its C4 program, as well as business leaders that have been supportive of this effort benefiting local talented students.

The Mill Race Marathon, Half Marathon, and 5K events take place in downtown Columbus on Sept. 24.
