COLUMBUS
Carla Reed, 64, left this world to enter into her eternity on November 2, 2022 with family by her side.
Carla was born on November 22, 1957, in Washington State, to Virginia Wilson Pope and William (Bill) Ernest Pope.
The family moved back to Columbus, IN after a stint in California in 1968. She graduated from Columbus North High School in 1975.
Right out of high school Carla began a job she would love and have for many years. Her position as a Travel Agent with Irwin Union Bank took her to many wonderful places around the world and heightened her enjoyment of travel.
A few years later she married Charles Everett Lewis and together had their daughter Cierra Elizabeth Lewis. They eventually moved to Arizona, where she would stay several years. On down the road, she married John Darrel Reed and together they had their daughter Eileah Rachell Reed. Then on to Colorado they moved and again, stayed for several years. Wanting to be closer to family, they eventually moved back to Columbus, IN, which she always considered her home.
Carla had her own elegant manner and was able to speak soft soothing words into any conversation, as she was a great conversationalist. Her sense of humor and laughter were infectious. Her words of wisdom &strength brought many friends into her life who loved her very much.
In her later years, she joined in with her sister, Susan, to find out as much about their family as possible with Genealogy. Together they visited family graveyards, found pictures and dates and shared their knowledge with many grateful family members.
Carla was preceded in death by her parents and her first husband Charlie, who remained a good friend and father for their daughter up until his death in 2017 and a stepdaughter, Dana Shawn Cooke.
She is survived by her husband Darrel, daughters, Cierra Elizabeth Lewis and Eileah Rachell Reed-Rector (James), brother Tony Pope of Albuquerque, sisters Tina (Mark) Bradley of Tuscon, AZ and Susan Faurote (Scott Fauerbach) of Ohio. Four grandsons who were the joy of her life and two nephews, Ben Faurote &Eric Arras. Stepdaughter Julie McCloskey and her two children and a step granddaughter. Also, several cousins here in Indiana, Oregon, California, Alabama, Missouri, Georgia, Wisconsin and New York.
Carla will be sadly missed by all who knew her. May her spirit of generosity be remembered for many years to come.
