Lena Faye Henderson Powell, 71, of Columbus, passed away November 3, 2022 in Indianapolis, surrounded by loved ones.
Lena was born May 30, 1951 in Columbus, the daughter of Paul and Edna Cohee Henderson.
Lena was devoted to God, and was a member of the First United Methodist Church for over 15 years. While a member of the church, she spent countless hours supporting church functions, and held a special place in her heart for the women’s group. She worked on the line as a baker at Dolly Madison, formerly known as Saps Bakery. Lena loved spending time with her family and friends, and was a meticulous maintainer of her yard, especially on Sundays, which she did so for the glory of God. She was a lover of all things yellow, puzzle books, and also cherished her parakeet “Marky”, whom she sang “Jesus loves me” to everyday.
Lena is survived by her daughter; Amanda Powell-Zeller and husband Matthew Zeller of Muncie, Indiana, grandchildren; Isabel Zeller, Thomas Zeller, and Samira Zeller, brother; Mark Henderson of Hope, Indiana, sister; Ester Dutro, and countless nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Preceding her in death are her parents; brother, Paul Henderson; and sister Violet Tichenor.
Funeral Services will be held at the First United Methodist Church in Columbus on Thursday, November 10, 2022 at 12:00 p.m. Visitation will be held prior to the service between the hours of 10:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. with Reverend Paul Dazet officiating. Burial will follow at Garland Brook Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Love Chapel.
