COLUMBUS, INDIANA
Jerry Wayne Haskell, 79, of Columbus, Indiana, passed from this life at 4:30 a.m. Monday,
November 7, 2022, at his home with his wife and two daughters at his side.
Jerry was born in Madison, Indiana, July 27, 1943, the loving son of the late Herbert W. “Hosie” and Geraldine Lauderbaugh Haskell. On May 21, 1993, Jerry married Mary Anne Mikesell Brooks; she survives.
Jerry was a 1961 graduate of Vevay High School where he was a member baseball, basketball, and track teams. Jerry was employed at Cummins Engine Company where he worked in order administration, he retired in 1995 after 33 years of service. After retirement, Jerry enjoyed his employment at Timbergate Golf Course in Edinbugh.
Jerry was a faithful member of Asbury United Methodist Church. An outdoorsman and sports enthusiast, Jerry was an avid golfer and fisherman, and he enjoyed hunting and mushroom hunting, and he played softball through Cummins at Ceraland.
Jerry enjoyed his participation in the Emmaus Walk and he and Mary Anne always looked forward to wintering in Amelia Island, Florida.
Jerry will be missed by his wife of 29 years, Mary Anne; son, Rodney (Amy) Haskell of Louisville, Kentucky; his bonus daughters, Margaret (Dan) Miller of Columbus and Jenny (Brent) Roberts of Franklin; grandchildren, Bailey (Dan) Wise of Louisville, Mathew Haskell of Louisville, Chase (Hannah) Chapman of Columbus, Bailee Chapman and her fiancée, Joey Smith of Columbus, Blake (Heather) Roberts of Franklin of Franklin, and Emily (Mitch) Frey of Greenwood; great-grandchildren, Landon, Zaelynn, Brooks, Franklin, and Gerald; brother, Larry Ward (Sharon) Haskell of Seymour; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert and Geraldine Haskell; brother, Robert L. “Bobby” Haskell; and sister and brother-in-law, Shirley Ann and Jon Peddie.
The funeral service will be held at 12 p.m. Thursday, November 10, 2022, at Asbury United Methodist Church, 1751 27th Street, Columbus, Indiana 47201; Pastor Nick Robinson will officiate.
Family and friends may gather for visitation from 10 a.m. until service time Thursday at the church. Jerry will be laid to rest on the family plot at Grandview Memorial Gardens near Madison, Indiana.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, Our Hospice of South Central Indiana or Asbury United Methodist Church.
