Marjorie W. Young

FRANKLIN (FORMERLY OF MORGANTOWN)

Marjorie W. (Waltman) Young, age 103 passed away peacefully on Monday afternoon, November 7, 2022 at the Four Seasons Retirement Center in Columbus. She was a resident of Columbus and a former resident of Morgantown.

Marjorie was born December 4, 1918 in Helmsburg, to her parents, the late Elza E. and Helen Blanch (Percifield) Waltman. She was a 1936 graduate of Helmsburg High School. Marjorie retired in 1980 as a Bank Teller for First Merchants Bank in Morgantown after ten years of service. Prior to that, she was the Cafeteria Manager for the Morgantown School from 1955 to 1970.

Marjorie was a member of the First Christian Church of Morgantown and the Morgantown Chapters of Kappa Kappa Sigma Sorority &The Daughters of Rebekah. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, embroidery and working crossword puzzles. Marjorie loved to travel and was a fan of IU Men’s Basketball, Indianapolis Colts and the Cincinnati Reds. She was an avid reader and enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Marjorie was preceded in death on September 8, 1970 by her first husband, Robert W. Cullen, whom she married on September 18, 1937 in Nashville. Later, Marjorie married Lowell R. Young on October 25, 1980 in Morgantown. He preceded her in death on October 21, 1992. She was also preceded in death by siblings, Myron, Byron and Howard Waltman; and a stepson, Norman D. Young.

Marjorie is survived by her children, Stephen W. Cullen and Susan K. (Charles) Dilk, both of Columbus; sister, Helen Peasley of Missoula, MT; grandchildren, Robert Charles Dilk of Indianapolis and Laura (Nick) Goldsberry of Fishers; great grandson, Cannon Goldsberry; and a sister-in-law, Phyllis Waltman of Franklin.

The Rev. Burt Brock will conduct a graveside service on Friday at 1 p.m. at East Hill Cemetery in Morgantown. Funeral services have been entrusted to Meredith-Clark Funeral Home Cremation &Personalization Center in Morgantown.
