Richard “Rick” Carlton McClintock, 76, of Columbus, passed away unexpectedly Monday, November 7, 2022 at his home.
Rick was born April 4, 1946, in Columbus, Indiana, the son of Billie Lee and Elaine Lauren McClintock. On June 28, 1986, he married Paulette Nikirk.
Rick served in the United States Army for two years before being honorably discharged. After his service he worked at various places in Columbus, including Dorel Juvenile Group (formerly, Cosco), Cummins Engine Company and Happy Hallow Children’s Camp as a caretaker. Mr. McClintock also attended First Baptist Church in Columbus. He was an avid hunter, enjoyed fishing and loved NASCAR racing. Rick was once the proud owner of a 1964 Nova. Attending “show car” gatherings were among his favorite things to do. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
Survivors include his wife, Paulette; son, Kirk (Treva) Burns of Atlanta, Georgia; granddaughter, Elisa (Connor) Cotton of Holloman Air Force Base, New Mexico; great-grandson, Ezra Cotton; son-in-law, Phillip Watkins of Columbus; sister, Karen (David) Carter, also of Columbus; sisters-in-law, Priscilla (Roger) Day, Polly (John) Major, both of Columbus; nephew, Michael (Megan) Carter of Greenville, S.C. and great-nephew, Lawson Carter.
He was preceded in death by his parents and daughter, Jane Ellen Watkins.
In keeping with the family’s request, cremation will take place and a memorial service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church with Pastor Daniel Kane officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service Saturday at the church.
Inurnment will be at the First Baptist Church Columbarium immediately following the service where military honors will be presented by the Bartholomew County Veterans Honor Guard.
Memorial contributions may be made to either First Baptist Church or Disabled American Veterans.
