Eleanor Mae Clear, 78, of Columbus passed from this life on Sunday, November 13, 2022, at 8:35 p.m. at her residence.
Miss. Clear was born on January 4, 1944, in Columbus the daughter of Paul Clear and Anna Mae Brand Hayden. As a teenager she met Nancy Chasteen and her family and developed a relationship that lasted a lifetime. Upon her graduation she dedicated her life to caring for Nancy and became a special part of the Chasteen family. Later in life she became very active with volunteering for the Canine Castaways Rescue where she was a board member and also involved in their fundraising efforts and the transport team where she transported rescue dogs from different states. She also enjoyed gaming and was an avid tv mystery watcher.
Survivors include her siblings, Darlene Lewis of Wyoming and Paul Clear of Missouri; and her second family, Katherine L. Wilhelm, Marcia J. Durham, Nicole Weddell, Lindsey J. Perez, Samantha Weddell, Isaiah Gambrel, Rhianna Gambrel, Jestik Weddell, and Cindy (John) Wilhelmi.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Jacquelyn “Jackie” A. Clear and Linda Gates; and her second family, Robert J. Chasteen, Martha Jane Chasteen, Nancy A. Chasteen, and Al Taylor.
Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday at Garland Brook Cemetery, section 83 with Virgil Clotfelter officiating.
Family and friends may gather for visitation on Sunday from 12:30p.m. to 2:00p.m. at Barkes, Weaver &Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street.
In memory of Eleanor memorial contributions may be given through the funeral home to the Canine Castaways Rescue Inc. in Fountaintown.
