EDINBURGH
Francis D. Wheatcraft, 78, of Edinburgh passed from this life on Wednesday, November 30, 2022, at 8:47 a.m. at his home.
Mr. Wheatcraft was born on January 21, 1944, in Columbus the son of Frank W. and Margaret O. Gobel Wheatcraft. On December 31, 1966, he married Ruth Ann Gephart. He proudly served in the United States Army having served during Vietnam, he went on to work and retire from Connectronics Inc. where he was a machinist which he had been doing since high school.
He was a member of the Edinburgh Church of the Nazarene. Some of his greatest joys were building things, traveling and serving his country. Above all he was always dedicated to his family and always happy to help them in any way.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Ruth Ann Wheatcraft of Edinburgh; daughters, Lorinda (Adam) Burch of Salem and Robin Wheatcraft of Interlachen, Florida; sisters, Barbara Harmon of Columbus, Betty Moffitt of Columbus; grandchildren, Levi (Jess) Hadley, Taylor (Jared) Johnson McCray, Collin Barnard, Ashlee Mackey, Jameson Shabel, Jessie Moore, Rocky Cuy, Isabella Shabel, Angel Shabel; and great grandchildren, Arya Pemberton, Olivia McCray, Victoria McCray, Sorin McCray, Rylynn Mackey, Kinslee Mackey, and Levi Mackey.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
The funeral service will be held 10:00 a.m. Thursday at Barkes, Weaver &Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street with Pastor Jim Hudson officiating.
Family and friends may gather for visitation from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home and also from 9:00 a.m. till time of service Thursday.
Burial will follow at Garland Brook Cemetery with full military honors presented by the Bartholomew County Veterans Honor Guard.
In memory of Mr. Wheatcraft memorial contributions may be given through the funeral home to the Bartholomew County Veterans Honor Guard.
