Kevin Ray Columbus Sr.

NORTH VERNON

Kevin Ray Columbus Sr., 64, of North Vernon, passed away while surrounded by his family at 8:15 p.m. on Tuesday, December 13, 2022, at Norton Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky.

Born May 2, 1958, in Marion, he was the son of Shirley (George) Columbus and the late Samuel Columbus.

Kevin graduated from Madison-Grant High School in 1977 and held a Master Technician certification. He had worked at Decatur Mold, Arvin’s, Columbus Components, and Auto Zone. He loved repairing motorcycles, taking things apart and putting them back together, small engines, and many things that made him greasy and dirty. Kevin was very reliable and enjoyed providing for those around him.

Kevin is survived by his son, Kevin R. (Kayla) Columbus II of North Vernon; daughters, Catherine (Jason) Feaster and Cameille Morgan, both of North Vernon; mother, Shirley Columbus of Virginia; former wife, Caroline (Josh Bixler) Columbus of North Vernon; brothers, Troy Columbus of Virginia and Monte Columbus of Indiana; sisters, Tera Elsworth and Sheila (Don) Warren, both of Virginia; grandchildren, Virginia Scott and Vincent Feaster, both of North Vernon; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father.

A funeral service for Kevin will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, December 19, 2022, at Dove-Sharp &Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Services in North Vernon. Visitation for family and friends will be held at the funeral home on Sunday, December 18, 2022, from 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. and one hour before the service on Monday.

Memorial donations may be made through the funeral home in honor of Kevin to the Special Olympics or to funeral expenses.
