COLUMBUS

Billy J. Lowe, 72, of Columbus passed from this life on Thursday, December 15, 2022, at 7:50a.m. at his home.

Billy was born on March 6, 1950, in Bartholomew County the son of Ivan E. and Genet Brewer Lowe. On June 6, 1978, he married Linda E. Franke. After graduating high school he went on to work at Farmers for a short time before going on to work at Cummins Engine Company where he retired after 42 years as a Lube Pump Technician.

During childhood Billy was diagnosed with Epilepsy, something that he went on to live with the rest of his life- he never let it slow him down or affect him living a full life. He was very proud of his job at Cummins and enjoyed working outside, cutting wood in the fall, and sitting on the back porch talking with his boys and enjoying the quietness of the country.

Billy is survived by his wife of 44 years, Linda E. Lowe of Columbus; children, Kenneth (Tracy Conner) Lowe of Columbus, Aaron Lowe of Columbus, Patrick Thompson of Columbus, Dena (Scott) Wood of Hope, and Michael Downs of Columbus; grandchildren, Dustin Thompson of Columbus, Ashley (John Savage) Huddleston of Seymour, Chelsey (Brandon) Auxier of Madison, Brandi (Kirk) Adams of Hope, Tracy Toddy of Hope; 8 great grandchildren; siblings, Ivan L. (Becky) Lowe of Columbus, Jerry Lowe of Greensburg, James (Leah) Lowe of Greensburg, Pam (Rusty) Dinsmore of Brown County; brother-in-law, Greg Franke of Columbus; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; great grandson, Bently Savage, and sister-in-law, Glenna Lindsay of Texas.

The funeral service will be 4:00p.m. Tuesday at Barkes, Weaver &Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street.

Family and friends may gather for visitation from 2:00p.m. till time of service Tuesday at the funeral home.

In keeping with Mr. Lowe’s wishes cremation will follow.

Memorial contributions may be given through the funeral home to the Bartholomew County Humane Society or Epilepsy Foundation of Indiana.
