Tommy Morrill // Columbus East senior wrestler
Morrill won his match against Columbus North by pin, then went 4-0 with two pins to win the 220-pound division and lead the Olympians to the team title at Saturday’s East Invitational.
His performance last week: “So far this season, I haven’t had super-hard competition until (Saturday). But I feel like I brought it (Saturday), and I’m really happy with how I did.”
Do you do anything special to prepare? “I just have to kind of get myself in the right mindset, that I’m going to win this match.”

Favorite class: “Weightlifting”
Favorite sports team: “Indiana University wrestling”

Best advice: “Losing is just as important as winning, if not more important, because you learn more from losing.”
Athletics goal: “Win state.”
If you could travel anywhere: “Probably out west in the U.S. because it’s just really beautiful out there, especially the Pacific Northwest area.”

Lexie Austin
Austin led the Eagles with 15 points in a 50-44 win at Greenwood, 13 points in Friday’s 50-16 win against Cloverdale and 12 points in Saturday’s 51-25 win against West Vigo.
Her performance last week: “I feel like I performed well, but I couldn’t do it without my teammates. Maddy Huff is a great passer, and Anna Stogsdill is a great defender. I was able to score as much as I did because of their great played.”
Do you do anything special to prepare? “We go over plays so much in practice, we know them so well. We do a bunch of drills that are so helpful, shooting drills, passing drills.”

Favorite food: “Chick-Fil-A chicken nuggets.”

Best advice: “Never give up. If a sport gets hard, or if life just gets hard and gets in the way, just keep going. You’ll get there.’”
Athletics goal: “Just to have a winning record this year. We struggled last year because we were young.”
If you could travel anywhere: “I’ve always wanted to go to Greece. The architecture there and the culture and the landscape is all beautiful.”
