COLUMBUS
Timothy W. Hays, 61, of Columbus, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, December 27, 2022, at Columbus Regional Hospital.
Tim was born March 7, 1961, in Columbus, the son of Doyle and Lottie Mikels Hays. He Married Karen Hamblen on May 22, 2004.
Tim graduated from South Decatur High School in 1979 and was a very kind and gentle man who gave the best bear hugs and worked hard his entire life to ensure his family was taken care of. He enjoyed football, hunting, and fishing. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family, especially his granddaughter Lillie. Tim and his wife would go to concerts and casinos and spend Saturday nights playing cards with his brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, and numerous friends. His great sense of humor always had those around him laughing. Tim had a big heart and was willing to help anyone who needed it. He will be deeply missed.
Tim is survived by his wife Karen; a daughter Renee (Denver) Woods of Columbus; a granddaughter Lillie Woods; a step-son Dillon Davis of Columbus; brothers William Hays Sr. of Greensburg, Gene (Libby) Hays and Roger Hays both of Columbus, and Randy (Linda) Hays of Westport; a sister Faye (Mike Williams) Ballard of Columbus; Bert (Butch) Adams of Westport, Betty (Bob) Meadows of Greensburg, and Sandy Meadows of Greensburg; a brother-in-law Doug Hamblen of Columbus; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a daughter Jessica Dawn Hays.
The funeral will be at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 3, 2023, at the Jewell – Rittman Family Funeral Home with Pastor Gary East officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service Tuesday. Burial will be at Flat Rock Baptist Cemetery.
