FRANKLIN
Dorothy Ruble Walker, a longtime resident of Columbus, passed away January 06, 2023 in Franklin. She was born September 20, 1929, in Belmont to Harley and Rachel Sturgeon. Her youngest sister, Lois (John) Stephens of Bloomington survives. She was preceded in death by her brothers Charles, Jimmy, and Cecil and her sister Mary Bay.
Dorothy was blessed with the love of her first husband, James Ruble, for fifty-one years before his death in 2000. They shared a love of family, gardening, fishing, and good food. Dorothy found love again with her second husband, Garnet Walker, who passed away in 2011 after a too brief but beautiful marriage. With both of them, she was a faithful member of the East Columbus United Methodist Church.
Dorothy’s primary focus all her life was her family. She is survived by a son, Larry (Connie) Ruble of Edinburgh and a daughter, Pamela Ruble Guthrie of Franklin. Five grandchildren also survive James Craig (Cara) Ruble of Greenwood, John Clayton (Tiffany) Ruble of Madison, Joseph Cory (Candace) Ruble of Columbus, Tricia Day of Lexington, KY, and Danielle Alfred of Indianapolis. Also surviving are her ten great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
All her life, Dorothy took delight in cooking for her family and friends. Her other primary interests were watching birds, crocheting, and solving word and jigsaw puzzles.
