Columbus North freshman golfer Ava Bunker finished with a cumulative two-day total of 4-over-par 148 to finish third in the in the Girls 15-18 Division of the Junior Honda Classic at the PGA National Resort-Palmer Course in Palm Springs, Florida.
Staci Pia won the tournament with a 1-under 143.
Trinity’s Tabeling reaches milestone
Trinity Lutheran senior Bailey Tabeling recorded her 2,000th career point Tuesday in the Cougars’ 59-30 loss at Lanesville.
Earlier this season, Tabeling, an Ohio University recruit, became Trinity’s and Jackson County’s all-time leading scorer.
Local soccer players commit to IUPUC
Three local soccer players have committed to play for the newly-formed IUPUC men’s soccer team that will begin in the fall.
Columbus East senior Jake Hofelich, Columbus North senior Alejandro “Pollo” Alvarez and Jennings County senior Nathan Davis have all committed to playing for the Crimson Pride.
North girls soccer adds assistant coach
Tim Nungester has been added to the Columbus North girls soccer coaching staff for next year. Nungester will be in charge of the SAQ (speed, agility, quickness) sessions and the goalkeepers for next year.
Meade commits to Calumet
Jennings County senior Ashley Meade has committed to continue her softball career at Calumet University.
East, Hauser hoops games rescheduled
The Columbus East girls basketball game at Eastern (Pekin) originally scheduled for Dec. 22 has been moved to tonight, with the JV tipoff at 6 p.m. and the varsity game to follow at around 7:30 p.m.
Hauser’s girls basketball game scheduled for Friday against Crothersville has been canceled. Also, the Jets’ game at Batesville that was originally scheduled for Nov. 4 is rescheduled for Saturday with the JV tip at 1 p.m. and the varsity to follow at around 2:30 p.m., and the game against Brownstown Central that was scheduled for Dec. 20 has been moved to Jan. 20, with the JV tipoff at 6 p.m. and the varsity to follow at around 7:30 p.m.
The Hauser boys basketball game against Morristown that was scheduled for Dec. 21 has been moved to Saturday, beginning with the JV at noon and the varsity game to follow at around 1:30 p.m.
