Karen S. Martin, 66, of Columbus passed away Tuesday, March 7, 2023 at her home.
Karen was born in Seymour, Indiana July 8, 1956, the daughter of Howard R. “Ron” and Janice Ferry Owen. She married Mark S. Martin March 19, 1977 in Columbus; and he survives.
She received an Associate’s Degree in Nursing from Ivy Tech University. She was a devoted nurse at Four Seasons Health Care Center for many years, retiring in 2008. She had a great passion and love for nursing, especially taking care of the elderly.
She attended The Ridge. Besides her family, her interests were dancing, caring for her plants, and scrapbooking.
She is survived by her husband, Mark S. Martin of Columbus; daughters, Kara Mize of Hope, Sally Gibbs of Columbus, and Olivia Martin of Seymour; son, Chad (Whitney) Martin of Hope; sisters, Kathy Lee of Columbus and Kelly (Lester) Perkinson of Elizabethtown; brother, Keith (Paula) Owen of Hope; grandchildren, Isaiah and Chance Martin, Lakota Robbins, Karson, Caleb, Austin, and Lukas Stuckey, and Jackson and Grayson Coryea.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Kenny Owen; and mother-in-law, Mary M. Martin.
To celebrate Karen’s life, friends and family may gather on March 24 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Myers-Reed Chapel. In lieu of flowers or donations, the family requests that you do an act of kindness for someone in Karen’s memory.
