The Indiana Basketball Coaches Association/Franciscan Health announced its boys basketball All-State teams on Wednesday.
Jennings County senior Keegan Manowitz was named to the Senior Large School All-State. Columbus North’s Cooper Horn, Edinburgh’s Caleb Dewey and Jennings’ Owen Law were senior honorable mention selections.
Jennings County sophomore Carter Kent was named to the Underclass All-State Supreme 15.
Manowitz, Horn and Dewey were invited to the Hoosier Basketball Magazine Top 60 workout. It’ll take place on Sunday at Marian University in Indianapolis.
Locals selected Academic All-State
The Indiana Basketball Coaches Association has announced its Academic All-State teams.
For the boys, Jennings County seniors Keegan Manowitz and Lane Zohrlaut were named to the first team. Columbus East seniors Pete Coriden and Zane Moravec, Columbus North seniors Cooper Horn, Zac Horn and Ty Ferguson and Jennings senior Owen Law are honorable mention selections.
For the girls, East seniors Allison Craig and Heidi Murphy, North senior Emma Long, Hauser senior Adrianna Musillami and Jennings senior Megan Vogel were named honorable mention.
Locals named All-HHC
Jennings County seniors Keegan Manowitz and Owen Law and sophomore Carter Kent have been named to the All-Hoosier Hills Conference boys basketball team.
Columbus East senior Ben Sylva and Jennings senior Justin Ramey made honorable mention. Jennings coach Josh Land was named Coach of the Year.
Bull Dogs net top seeds
Columbus North senior Julia Kiesler in the 3,200 meters and the Bull Dog girls distance medley relay team are top seeds going into the big-school division of Saturday’s Hoosier State Relays, the unofficial state indoor track and field meet.
The North girls also are seeded third in the 4×800 relay, and Moana Steele is 12th in the shot put. The Bull Dog boys are seeded fourth in the distance medley relay an fifth in the 4×800 relay, while Adler Larson is eighth and Neal White 15th in the 3,200.
In the small-school division, Brown County’s Chase Austin is seeded sixth in the boys 3,200, and the Eagles are 20th in the distance medley relay. Hauser’s Cameron Toole is seeded 21st in the boys long jump. Brown County’s Hadley Gradolf is 13th in the girls 3,200.
The big-school division for schools who are in classes 4A, 5A and 6A for football begins at 10 a.m. Saturday at Indiana University’s Gladstein Fieldhouse. The small-school division for teams who are 1A, 2A and 3A in football, starts at 4 p.m.
Miles commits to IWU
Columbus North senior Savion Miles recently announced his decision to continue his football career at Indiana Wesleyan University.
The defensive lineman had 91 tackles and 1 1/2 sacks for the Bull Dogs in the fall.
