Bartholomew Consolidated School Corp. has announced winners for a new set of awards honoring its non-certified staff members.

BCSC officials recognized the 2023 Classified Employees of the Year at a recent school board meeting. Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources Gina Pleak said that the winners represent “the best and brightest” of BCSC’s classified staff.

“This is our first year for this acknowledgment and recognition, and I’m very proud of all of them,” said Pleak.

The winners are as follows:

  • Sonny Mitchell — Administration building, district technology specialist
  • Jerilyn Brewer — Clifty Creek Elementary, media specialist
  • Priethaa Viswanathan — CSA Fodrea Elementary, English Language Learning teaching assistant
  • Jenny Goggin — CSA Lincoln Elementary, media specialist
  • Cindy Thompson — Mt. Healthy Elementary, administrative assistant
  • Kristina Ebersold — Parkside Elementary, building secretary
  • Pennie Snider — Richards Elementary, media specialist
  • Erin Engelau — Rockcreek Elementary, administrative assistant
  • Twanette Miller — Schmitt Elementary, pathway paraeducator
  • Madhusmita Panda — Smith Elementary, Pre-K teaching assistant
  • Lilly Parker — Southside Elementary, administrative assistant

  • Anastasia Martindale — Columbus Virtual Pathway/Columbus Behavioral Center/McDowell, technical support manager
  • Lynn Thexton — Information Services Center, administrative assistant
  • Mike Shuff — Transportation and maintenance, bus technician supervisor

According to Pleak, winners were chosen by a vote of peers within their respective buildings or programs. The award differs from BCSC’s Teacher of the Year award in that there will not be one overall district winner selected from the list of building/program winners.

Together, the 21 recipients have approximately 260 years of experience at BCSC alone, said Pleak.

“1,100 staff members or so in our school corporation are classified staff, and they do a great job of supporting all of the work that goes in the school corporation, so again, thank you,” said Superintendent Jim Roberts.
