Bull Dogs blank Braves

BLOOMINGTON — No. 12 Columbus North won all three singles matches in straight sets Monday in a 5-0 Conference Indiana win against Terre Haute South.

Kathryn Wilson blanked Sarah Rowe 6-0, 6-0 at No. 1 singles, Aya Saad topped Samhita Shantharam 6-1, 6-0 at No. 2 singles and Annabelle Sun downed Asa Irish 6-3, 6-3 at No. 3 singles for the Bull Dogs (12-3, 3-1)

North’s Lucy Bergman and Grace Connor beat Ayden Zinkovich and Savannah Semmer 2-6, 6-4, (10-7) at No. 1 doubles. Siri Poludasu and Nino Akhalaya defeated Jordan Miller and Jessica Kauvbhanvi 6-7 (2), 6-2, 11-9 at No. 2 doubles.

Owls topple Panthers

SEYMOUR — Seymour won three positions before the match was called by rain in a 3-0 win against Jennings County.

The Panthers’ Joline Chen fell to Ashley Clemente 6-0, 6-0 at No. 3 singles. Makenzey Carr and Mia Silvey lost to Jessica Houghland and Caroline Thompson 6-0, 6-1 at No. 1 doubles, and Gabi Morin and Trina Collins fell to Marlo Cornn and Chantal Wilson 6-0, 6-2 at No. 2 doubles.

Jennings (2-8) trailed at both No. 1 and No. 2 singles when the match was called.

Eagles fall to Arrows

ELLETTSVILLE — Brown County won the No. 1 doubles match, but fell in the other spots in a 4-1 Western Indiana Conference loss to Sullivan.

Katie Tipton and Londyn Koester blanked Maggie McCammon and Sarah Francis 6-0, 6-0 at No. 1 doubles for the Eagles (10-5, 4-1).

Brown County’s Anna Stogsdill fell to Hanna Burkhart 6-3, 6-1 at No. 1 singles, Anna Tipton lost to Paige Chickadaunce 6-1, 6-0 at No. 2 singles and Julia Burt fell to Ally McKinney 4-6, 6-4, (10-3) at No. 3 singles. Ava Kelly and Cady Kemp lost to Ella King and Parker Mischler 6-1, 6-4 at No. 2 doubles.

Bulldogs edge East

NEW ALBANY — New Albany scored three runs in the first inning and held on for a 3-2 Hoosier Hills Conference win against Columbus East.

The Olympians (9-8, 1-4) had three hits, including a home run by Savanna Sullivan. Hermione Robinson threw a six-hitter.

Panthers top Hornets

HENRYVILLE — Jennings County pounded out 20 hits and scored in all seven innings in a 14-8 win at Henryville.

Alexis Carson went 4 for 5 with a home run and two RBIs for the Panthers (11-7). Abby McDonald went 3 for 4 with a triple; Riley Byford went 3 for 4; Taylor Mowery went 2 for 2 with a double; Jillian Brauer went 2 for 4 with a triple and two RBIs; Kenzie Matern went 2 for 5 with a home run, a double and three RBIs and Claire Hack went 2 for 5.

BOYS GOLF

East wins tri match

SEYMOUR — Pierce Arnholt won medalist honors with a 41 to lead Columbus East to a tri-match win at Shadowood. The Olympians finished with a 171 team total to 188 for New Albany and 201 for host Seymour.

Ben Luedeke carded a 42 for the Olympians. Carter Greene added a 43, Spencer Erfmeier shot 45, Keaton Stephenson had a 48 and Jamall Starks finished with a 51.

GIRLS LACROSSE

Columbus wins two

Columbus lacrosse won a pair of matches on Saturday by defeating Bloomington 12-4 and Evansville Reitz 12-7.

Liberty Jones scored four goals, Rylie Boezeman netted three goals against Bloomington., Emma Butterworth, Lydia Putney, Kasey Kelley, Avery Stults and Sarah Morales all added one goal.

Jones netted six goals, and Boezeman had four against Reitz. Kelley and Stults each added one goal.
