Driver arrested after high speed chase in stolen truck

Columbus police officers arrested a Hope man on numerous felony charges after the pursuit of a stolen vehicle on Monday evening.

At approximately 6:30 p.m., CPD officers observed a stolen Chevy truck traveling at a high rate of speed in the area of Marr Road and Rockyford Road, said Lt. Matt Harris, Columbus Police Department spokesman.

Officers began pursuing the vehicle as the suspect, later identified as Brian R. Sosbe, 38, exited the city limits. A short time later, Sosbe drove across a farm field and struck a tire deflation device near the intersection of 25th Street and Talley Road, Harris said.

The pursuit ended when Sosbe pulled into a parking lot in the 4800 block of 25th Street where he was taken into custody, Harris said.

Sosbe was transported to the Bartholomew County Jail where he was remanded on the following preliminary charges:

  • Resisting law enforcement with a vehicle (Level 6 felony)
  • Four counts of possession of a legend drug injection device (Level 6 felony)
  • Possession of a narcotic drug (Level 6 felony)
  • Possession of a stolen vehicle (Level 6 felony)
  • Possession of stolen property with a previous conviction (Level 6 felony)
  • Possession of a legend drug (Level 6 felony)
  • Reckless driving (Class A misdemeanor)
  • Criminal mischief (Class B misdemeanor)
  • Possession of marijuana (Class B misdemeanor)
  • Operating a vehicle as a habitual traffic violator (Level 6 felony)
  • Possession of methamphetamine (Level 6 felony)

Sosbe was booked into the jail, held in lieu of $57,000 bond, jail officials said.
